Zetta joined A Better Course in November 2017. Zetta has dedicated her education, career, and volunteer time to developing and managing programs that improve children’s health, setting them up to perform in school and preparing them for meaningful life opportunities. She has over 15 years of experience in community food systems and innovation and design of school meal programs. She holds a M.A. degree and her research focused on urban food systems. She has extensive school meal program experience, having served as Director of Nutrition Services at the San Francisco Unified School District, which served over 6 million meals annually. During her tenure, she designed and implemented programs such as Breakfast After the Bell, after-school supper, Community Eligibility Provision, and the Future Dining Experience, a student centered, design thinking strategic plan created in partnership with IDEO. Further, Zetta has lead initiatives with other large urban school districts, such as the Oakland Unified School District’s Breakfast After the Bell initiative, which resulted in a 37% increase in students having breakfast in just a year and half. Zetta is also a Board of Education Trustee for the Walnut Creek School District.
Zetta lives in Walnut Creek with her husband and daughter.
