Zetta joined A Better Course in November 2017. Zetta has over 15 years of experience in community food systems and over 10 years experience with innovation and design of school meal programs. She holds a M.A. degree and her research focused on urban food systems. She has extensive school meal program experience, having served as Director of Nutrition Services at the San Francisco Unified School District, which served over 6 million meals annually. During her tenure, she designed and implemented programs such as Breakfast After the Bell, after-school supper, Community Eligibility Provision, and the Future Dining Experience, a student centered, design thinking strategic plan created in partnership with IDEO. Further, Zetta has lead initiatives with other large urban school districts, such as the Oakland Unified School District’s Breakfast After the Bell initiative, which resulted in a 37% increase in students having breakfast in just a year and half. Zetta lives in Walnut Creek with her husband and daughter, Talula.
